I’ve always wanted a reason to do a reverse silhouette panel. They’re so fucking classy.
I rented a houseboat with some friends up at Lake Shasta recently. It’s not something I would ever have thought to do, but I’m not very good at relaxing so it takes being surrounded by water with no art supplies in sight to quiet the part of my brain that wants to make stuff all the time.
I’ve always loved the moon, the stars, and the solitude of the night, but I’ve always lived near cities and have only ever been able to see a handful of stars. Lake Shasta is far enough from light pollution that the whole sky was lit up like a planetarium. I don’t think I’ve ever seen the Milky Way like that before. It was gorgeous.
This was the second time I rented a houseboat with my friends. Before the first time we did it I thought it sounded kind of dreadful. I assumed it would be cramped, uncomfortable, unsanitary and I figured I’d get motion sick. It turns out lakes are pretty still and it was so much fun that I didn’t care about any of that other stuff.
I’d like to challenge everyone reading this to try something you want to do, but are uncomfortable with. It might be awesome!
Come back on October 17th to see how Sebastian gets out of this!
